Abstract | A BV photometric investigation on the previously unstudied globular cluster NGC 4833 was carried out at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory with the 1.5 meter reflector. Forty-seven stars were observed photoelectrically to apparent magnitude V = 15.79. With this sequence 261 stars were calibrated photographically. The apparent distance modulus is (m-M)app=14.70. The reddening is E(B-V)=0.40. The true distance modulus is (m-M)0=13.50. The distance is 5012 pc from the Sun and 697 pc from the galactic plane. The gian branch rises 2.95 magnitude above the horizontal branch at (B-V)0=1.4, characteristic of a metal poor object. |
